Kit's on leave!! Yay yay! :D

Since Kit has to work, we went to buy some books to keep me occupied. Borders had School Promo! 15% off on all normal-priced books! Yay!! :D:D Bought 'Mercy' & 'My Sister's Keeper' by Jodi Picoult, and 'Man and Boy' & 'Man and Wife' by Tony Parsons. ^^

***

A week after my exams, Kit finally has his 1 week + leave, starting from the previous Sunday. After lunch with his fam, we went for a few rounds of bowling at Penang Bowl with Melryn! Everyone had scores over 100! (Kit's highes was 135, if I'm not mistaken.) My highest was 70 T__T Paiseh-nia!!

Our tummy were kulu kulu-ing, so we head over to Goodall and makan-ed Western Food (me), Koay Kak and Fried Rice (Kit) and Panggang huu. :D Next! Batu Ferringhi!

We bought 6 pens :P (Look Below!) I know it's childish, but they're adorable!! The price was reasonable too! After bargaining a lil' of course. It's not all mine though! The lighter brown bear, tiger and hipopo pens are mine. The darker brown bear, koala and giraffe pens belongs to Kit ;D

***
We started our Monday with badminton! 10am to 12.30pm. It's been a long time since both of us exercised.. Our muscles are aching badly now T_T Makan-ed tandoori at Ananda Bahwan then we went back to Kit's place to play some ping pong!

Later in evening, we were hungry - again! So, tadaa~!

Look what we found when we went back to my place!

@_@

bye bye exams!

FREEDOM! Ching's exam ended last Monday. After her last paper ended, I fetched her from coll to Gurney. Our tummies were growling! The moment we reached there, there was only one thing on our minds : MAKAN!!!!!!

The ever-satisfying Nando's was to be the place we filled our growling tummies! Even tho I have been working at Chili's for almost 3 months now, there's no doubting where my favourite makan place is! After that, we jalan-jalan & window shop till our first movie. I Love You, Man. Not bad le. It's funny! Laughed our a**es off! On a scale of 5, I would give this one a 3.5! Thumbs up! Definitely a good one to make any mood lighter!

Then we watched 17 Again. Starring Zac Efron. Who is kinda gay. (Adam Lambert's gay too in case you didn't know!) Nonetheless, we both enjoyed this movie. Not as good as I Love You, Man but still good. 3 out of 5 I would say.

After these two movies, our tummies were abit on the empty side and we decided to head over to Chili's for dinner. We couldn't even settle two starters and one wonders how ppl actually manage to down a starter and an entree along with a couple of beers to drown all of it. *scratches head* We had one order of chips and queso and a nachos. Yummy! But its a lil' too filling if you ask me.

Chips and Queso.

Classic Nachos.

Me halfway thru one of my Nachos! Mouth soo big!

This is lou poh! Biting into her yummy yummy Nachos!

After all that, it was quite late already and we decided to head back home. Listened to the cd I did for her the whole way back! It was a pity it didn't last longer tho'. I had work the following morning. And that was our day after lou poh's exams ended! Simple but it sure made us happy! ^^

closing shift.

Yesterday was the first time I was given a closing shift. And damn! Closing sucks! Damn tiring wei! Gotta do so much more than opening. But one thing good bout closing is that dinner ppl are generally better tippers than lunch ppl. I'm serious! Got almost 4 times more than what I'd get for opening shift! Got quite abit yesterday! xD And today it's closing again! T_____T Cant wait for saturday. My other off day! Get to be with lou poh! Whee! I hope tips will be good later le!

wednesday.

On Wednesday, we went out to catch a couple of movies plus makan since her trials ended and I was having my off day! :D Downed Nando's for lunch and proceeded to watch Confessions of a Shopaholic and Fast & Furious 4 (FF4).

Watched Shopaholic first. Verdict : NOT a must-watch! No where near a must-watch actually! The entire show was very predictable from the first scene right till the end. Shopaholic wants to buy everything. Runs up debts with banks. Gets debt collector going after her. Manages to pay debts. Turns over a new leaf. End. Fantastic storyline! =.= To make it worse, the fashion sense in the show is just not that great. Wait! Too much credit given there. Fashion sense sucks! Out of 5 I'd give a 1. Yeah! 1.

Then we came out to look see a few cameras and video-cams. Been eyeing the video-cam which is rather slim one that Sony has been advertising about. It's slim for a video-cam alright but when you compare it to a normal digital cam it's huge! And the price is not that cheap either. Goes for RM3999. Then the T-77 caught my attn. It used to be RM1299 but has since dropped to RM999. I'm hoping that another month or so of patience will bring the price down even more. :D

Then, we watched FF4! The cast of 2 Fast 2 Furious made a return! The dood that plays Brian O'Connor! He's yeng man! Fast cars and drugs! They always go together huh? Out of 5 I'd give FF4 a 4! Value for money! Especially on a Wednesday! :D

After that, we had dinner. Tomyam at Teluk Bayan! And that was our Wednesday!

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

week one.

It's been a week since I started off at Chili's! How time flies wei! That being said, I've only worked 4days out of the 7. Learned loads. Menu knowledge is just too much to master tho'. You see, to go "solo" and have one's own ID at Chili's, one must have to pass 5 tests on menu knowledge i.e. what burger comes with what cheese and what garnishing goes with what salad bla bla bla. And the effed up part is that the passing mark is 90%! Yup! A tad high for a food server dun ya think? and there's loads more to learn. Everyday I start work thinking that I know my stuff and here comes along a customer who wants extra of this/don't want that/substituting sides. And then I scratch my head and press press press the many many buttons on the screen hoping I keyed in the right order. Made many new friends too. Managers are not all that bad. Can't say the same about the trainee manager tho' xD. I'm off tomorrow and tomorrow shall be a wonderful day! Can't wait! ^^

And so I expected either one of those colours le. Instead, I was given the red one! Damn striking wei! I like! All the colours not bad actually. There's black and blue and white too! Worked for 6 hours today (9am - 3pm) and at 3 I saw lou poh! Sitting down outside Chili's! Whee! Soo happy wei! Sadly had to take day1 test :( Can't spend time with lou poh :( But luckily the test nu that bad la :) Then after test be with lou poh :D but awhile ni :( Nvm! Tomorrow shall be all :D :D :D!!

mousehunt.

is a very addictive game! It's supposed to be a passive facebook game where you click the horn and come back 15 minutes later to see whether your trap managed to catch any mice or not but I can't help but going back to check on the trap every few minutes :D Introduced to me by lou poh! You should try it you know! Who knows? You might just be checking on your trap as often as me! Thank you lou poh!! :D :D :D

THE number 8.

Last night all Liverpool fans were treated to another goal-fest! This time round, Aston Villa were put to the sword. Mind you, Aston Villa were no push-overs themselves. 5th placed team in the best league in the world ain't all bad! By half-time the game was already beyond Villa's reach with the score at 3-0. And although it ended 5 to the good for Liverpool, some quarters might be a tad disappointed because the score could easily have been 7 or 8 for the home side. Contemplated putting this post's title as 5-star Reds but a tribute to the captain seemed more befitting. The number 8's hat-trick capped a truly memorable 10 days for the club!! This one's to him!! :D

The [ One-Tenth ] Sushi Experience.

All images were taken from Sushi King.

Previously, we've only gone to Sakae Sushi to eat 'sushi'.. and by 'sushi', I mean only 3 things : Chicken Katsu Cheese, Salmon Teppanyaki and Tuna Mayo. Well, yesterday, we had more than our usual. We took a break from shopping and went to Sushi King (Gurney outlet) with my family for tea break/ dinner. My parents kept asking us to try, so in the end, we took :

Kani Tama Maki
Tuna-Mayo.
Sake-Mayo

Soft Shell Crab Temaki

Sake Teriyaki

That was all Kit and I tried. :( .. which explains the title. They have so many choices but we only tried so few. I know I didn't take more cause I've never been a fan of seaweed and crabs.. but I think Kit was pai seh to order/take :P:P. I don't remember the total number of plates we (mostly my parents and sis) took but they sum up to RM103.15, if I'm not mistaken. Luckily we had a 10% discount when we use the HSBC Credit Card and 3 RM30.00 Sushi King vouchers from HSBC Dine-on-us Promotion and guess what! We only paid RM2.80 for the sushi-s! xD That was the best part! :D

I think my Baby Dino likes sushi now! He's waiting for this! :

FOUR. take two.

BRILLIANT!! Who in the world would have predicted the world champs being pulverized 1-4 at Old Trafford man?! Just 4 days after handing Real Madrid a 4-0 trashing at Anfield, now they do this at Old Trafford!! 8 goals against arguably the two biggest teams in the world (with the exception of Barca)!! Ley******bit!! Woohoo!! Double over Utd & Real completed!! Bring em' on!!

I'm sorry they're no pictures available as of time of posting :D

four.

Emphatic! From the very first whistle there was ever only gonna be one winner. And it definitely wasn't the team in white. Rival fans might say that the game was won with the help from the men in black but I'm positive neutrals would agree with me when I said there was only one deserved winner. Sometimes, scorelines do not reflect how the game actually panned out but on this occasion, 4-0 was exactly how it was on the pitch. Don't believe? Watch the replay then :D I'm sure no Liverpool fan could have predicted such a scoreline or performance from them. But they did it and kudos to Rafa. Another Champs League final appearance? From what I witnessed just now, I wouldn't bet against it!!

Cassilas' expression kinda says it all!!

Angels.

I sit and wait
Does an angel
Contemplate my fate?
Do they know
The places where we go
When we're gray and old
'cause I've have been told
That salvation
Lets their wings unfold.
So when I'm lyin' in my bed
Thoughts running through my head
And I feel the love is dead
I'm loving angels instead.
And through it all
She offers me protection
A lot of love and affection
Whether I'm right or wrong
And down the waterfall
Wherever it may take me
I know that life won't break me
When I come to call
she won't forsake me
I'm loving angels instead.
When I'm feeling weak
And my pain walks down
a one way street
I look above
And I know I'll always be
blessed with love.
And as the feeling grows
She breathes flesh to my bones
And when love is dead
I'm loving angels instead.
And through it all
She offers me protection
A lot of love and affection
Whether I'm right or wrong
And down the waterfall
Wherever it may take me
I know that life won't break me
When I come to call
she won't forsake me
I'm loving angels instead.

sigh.

The political scene in the silver state is plain pathetic. Ever since that "somebody" got appointed the head of a certain political party in the aforementioned state, everything has turned upside down. Wrong has become right. Up becomes down. Black becomes white. Such has been the turmoil he has caused that for the first time in the history of a very small country that a state assembly had to be carried out under a RAINTREE!! Like wtf?! LMAO!!

I woke up this morning and glanced through the "nation" section of the papers as usual and instead of the comics making me laugh, the "nation" section did just that. It's absolutely ridiculous wei!! Go read it if you haven't. And one sub-headline in particular caught my attention. "Assembly under raintree is a disgrace, says ***** **". Read more about it here. I've got nothing against any party but none of this would have happened IF the "somebody" mentioned above hadn't caused so much havoc with "persuading/buying" representatives from a rival party. The people have voted. And on the 8th of March last year, their voices were heard. It is said that we, citizens of our beloved country, enjoy a certain degree of freedom of speech. What happened then? Why the need to win back the majority and wrest control from the choice of people of that state? Why? And about the sub-headline, which was more of a disgrace? The assembly under a raintree because they were barred from doing so at the state secretariat building? Or the sudden resignations of a few MPs from one party to be independent MPs who support the opposition party? You decide. For me, it's definitely the latter.

To add abit more, in one paragraph, it was quoted that a certain chairman of a long string of crap as saying "It shows how power-crazy ****** is,". Then again. Who is the one that's really power-crazy? Who is the one who started this mess? When did this mess start unfolding? You go think laa. The "somebody" will be the leader of our beloved country soon. Makes one wonder how things will pan out once "somebody" has even more power than he has now.

Peace.

smeksy!!

On Monday, had my ingrown toenail removed :D It was so friggin irritating man. Hurts the moment you put pressure on it. Best part was that he allowed me to watch the whole procedure from injecting the local anaesthetic to slicing my nail and yanking it out to burning the epithelial cells all the way to stitching the wound up :D :D :D Yeah man!! Whee!! Then on Monday I had this on my toe!!

Cute right?? Hahaha!!

This is how it looks when the bandage was removed ystd.
Smeksy..no???

And now I'm off sports for about 6 weeks. But after 6 weeks is up I shall enjoy football once again :D Tataaa!!

rawr.

:(
i hate sundays.
***

Hunny's results then mine :
Your view on yourself:
You are down-to-earth and people like you because you are so straightforward. You are an efficient problem solver because you will listen to both sides of an argument before making a decision that usually appeals to both parties.
You are intelligent, honest and sweet. You are friendly to everybody and don't like conflict. Because you're so cheerful and fun people are naturally attracted to you and like to talk to you. - only the conflict part is true :P

The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:
You like serious, smart and determined people. You don't judge a book by its cover, so good-looking people aren't necessarily your style. This makes you an attractive person in many people's eyes.
same like Hunny's. - definitely correct!

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:
You prefer to get to know a person very well before deciding whether you will commit to the relationship.
same.

The seriousness of your love:
You are very serious about relationships and aren't interested in wasting time with people you don't really like. If you meet the right person, you will fall deeply and beautifully in love.
same.

Your views on education:
Education is very important in life. You want to study hard and learn as much as you can.
Education is less important than the real world out there, away from the classroom. Deep inside you want to start working, earning money and living on your own.

The right job for you:
You're a practical person and will choose a secure job with a steady income. Knowing what you like to do is important. Find a regular job doing just that and you'll be set for life.
same.

How do you view success:
You are confident that you will be successful in your chosen career and nothing will stop you from trying.
Success in your career is not the most important thing in life. You are content with what you have and think that being with someone you love is more than spending all of your precious time just working. - probably the most accurate answer :)

What are you most afraid of:
You are afraid of having no one to rely on in times of trouble. You don't ever want to be unable to take care of yourself. Independence is important to you.
You are concerned about your image and the way others see you. This means that you try very hard to be accepted by other people. It's time for you to believe in who you are, not what you wear.

Who is your true self:
You are full of energy and confidence. You are unpredictable, with moods changing as quickly as an ocean. You might occasionally be calm and still, but never for long.
You are mature, reasonable, honest and give good advice. People ask for your comments on all sorts of different issues. Sometimes you might find yourself in a dilemma when trapped with a problem, which your heart rather than your head needs to solve.

5.14

AMAZING!!!!!!!

For those of you who have not the slightest idea of what 5.14 means then you've probably missed out on one of the best tennis matches in history. 5.14 is the duration of that spectacle. Nadal vs Verdasco. Mind-blowing!! If you do have a chance then I suggest you turn on channel 813 and watch the replay. You ain't gonna regret. Trust me.

Now that was tennis!!

Gong Xi Fa Cai!

Year of the Ox (also, year of my jie jie!)

(Image taken from : http://www.flickr.com/photos/24010832@N02/3164954048/)

THIS YEAR :
(taken from MSN Astrology)

Ox
The practical element of Earth combined with your own sign will make you an even more serious and careful Ox. Earth Ox energy supports your love of regular routines, traditional methods, and well-established systems. It is important to balance responsibilities with some well deserved "me time." To stay at the top of your game, do not neglect health and fitness. Regular exercise can improve your attitude and quality of life. Take small steps to improve your diet. Wise Oxen will make establishing healthy habits a priority.

- ahahaha. Jie, you have to start exercising and stop eating junk food :P:P It's a sign to follow me when I play badminton on Tues. :D

Horse
The element of Earth and the sign of steady and reliable Ox will help the Horse clan make important commitments and fulfill important responsibilities. Be cautious. Snap decisions or comments made without thinking can be cause for regret. Stop, retreat, and regroup if you find yourself flying into a temper when things don’t go your way. Accept life as it comes, and keep your terrific sense of humor. This is a lucky year for romance or even to marry.

- .______. temper... oh well :/

May all of you (celebrating) have a
Happy and Prosperous Chinese New Year!!

:S

I SHOULD be C-O-N-T-E-N-T-E-D. Got exactly what I predicted I would get. Yet an air of disappointment engulfs me. It's not that bad but it's not that good either. 2 and 2. For the effort I put in I should be satisfied to say the least. But I still can't get over the fact that I actually predicted that I would get B's :( I shouldn't be happy and rightly so but had you told me that I would have gotten this result when I was preparing for the papers in Oct/Nov, I'd take it without any second thoughts. But now that the results are actually out, I'm kinda bummed actually. The post about contentment was probably put up at the best possible time then. I'm :S currently. Drifting between contentment and disappointment. Leaning more towards the latter I should say. Oh well, the results qualify me for uni and that's all that matters, no? IF ONLY it was really that straightforward. Sigh. Mom says I shouldn't retake. She's probably right. After this few months who's gonna ask how I did for A-Levels, si bo? But a part of me wants to retake. Just can't accept laa....... Contentment. Sigh.

To those who got the results you wanted, congrats!!
To those who didn't, cheer up!!
What doesn't kill you will only make you stronger!!

uh-oh

IT HAS ARRIVED!!

*dies*

contentment.

As usual, I attended weekend mass last Sunday - ok, maybe sometimes on Saturdays :) - and like every week, I'd glance through the church bulletin real quick to see if anything interesting is coming up. But this time, something caught my eye and my eyes were fixated on the whole passage. It's under the "reflection" section and it goes like this :

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

LESSONS IN CONTENTMENT
- adapted from Rick Warren -

Here are four ways to develop contentment in your life.

1. Stop comparing yourself to others. When you compare your life with someone else's, the only place it can lead to is towards discontentment. There will always be people who appear to be better off than you, but you don't know their real circumstances. This is why the Bible teaches it is unwise to compare (2 Cor 10:12) - "Of course we would not dare classify ourselves or compare ourselves with those who rate themselves so highly. How stupid they are! They make up their own standards to measure themselves by their own standards!"

2. Be grateful for who you are and what you have. Learning to be content requires that you stop and "when and then" thinking - "When I am _______, then I'll be happy." (You fill in the blank). The reason we fall into this trap is that we may actually be contented for a little while but it won't last. But, more than likely, someone else or something else will come along and drain the contentment from your life.

* This part I add in myself. Ever heard the song "Live your life" by T-I ft. Rihanna? I'm sure you have. The starting part (where T-I speaks in between the mia hee(s) and mia ha(s)) goes like this "everybody right here..what you need to do is be thankful for the life you got, you know what I'm sayin'..stop looking at what you ain't got, start being thankful for what you do got.." Not that I'm all that fond of this song..it's just that these few lines really strike me :)

3. Give yourself to others. If you begin giving yourself to others, sharing what things you do have, sharing your time and your talents, you will find yourself learning to be contented. Helping others will give you an appreciation for what you have and who you are, but more importantly, you will find yourself growing in contentment.

4. Focus on things with eternal value. The real secret to becoming contented is to focus on things that have eternal value. It may be a familiar teaching to you, but Jesus said we should store up our treasures in heaven, and not on earth. (Matthew 6:19-21) reads "Do not store up riches for yourselves here on earth, where moths and rust destroy, and robbers break in and steal. Instead, store up riches for yourselves in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and robbers cannot break in and steal. For your heart will always be where your riches are."

By reorganising your life around eternal priorities, you'll find yourself growing in contentment as you live according to God's design and purpose. Why not try this for a month and see for yourself? God bless :)

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

This caught my attention because when I look around me, discontentment is everywhere. It's only human nature to want to be the best or at least better than most. Yes, we might continue deceiving ourselves by telling ourselves that we are happy with what we have and who we are but how long are we gonna do so? I wanna be better than him/her! My friend has this, I want it too! My friends get to do it, why can't I? People's results so good wan, why I cannot be like them? And don't come tell me that these questions do not dash through your mind. Albeit being able to brush these questions off, the fact is that we humans do think about such stuff. And yes, I would call it kiasu-ism! It exists alright! But then again, without this "kiasu" spirit, development and progress wouldn't be as rapid as it is now. There's a good and bad to everything and this is no different. There's just that fine line between good and bad "kiasu-ism" and it is entirely up to us to draw that line and toe that line we draw.

Contentment. Is it really possible??

week 1 :)

Tiring. Yup. One word. The first week of 2009 has just flew by. Way too fast if you asked me. Waking up early after weeks of sleeping in till noon sucks tho. Apart from that and the fact that I can't be with her for long hours, the week went ok laa :)

I'm currently attached to two doctors : Dr. Alif Carr (Orthopedic Dept. at GH) and Dr. Soe Aung (GP at Perak Road Clinic). Although it has just been a week, I've learnt much from them. Not so much the treating of cases but more of a brief insight into medicine and life as doctors. And so far, I would say that medicine is not all that stressful; in my opinion it actually alternates between depression and satisfaction. Depression that there are sooo MANY sick people in the world and satisfaction for the fact that I know that by being a doctor, I'll be able to help these helpless sick people feel better.

In my two visits to GH so far, the Ortho Dept. is sardine-packed each time and according to Dr. Alif it has been like that since he started practising. Sigh. I'm there by 8 and by 11ish approximately 140+ patients have been treated with god knows how many more waiting outside. Depressing?? Thought so.

And with Dr. Soe Aung it's different as in his patients are usually old people who actually have just a slight fever/cough/flu but they think that the end of the world is imminent. And there isn't actually much point in trying to explain to them as they would just take that the doctor is just trying to make them feel better. Sigh.

Oh well. That was my first week being attached to the doctors. Lou poh and I have just volunteered ourselves to Mount Miriam Hospital too. And the best thing about this coming week is that lou poh's gonna be with me when I'm with Dr. Soe :)

And to all those who have sat for either AS or A2 exams last Oct/Nov, we have 10 days to results day!! Whee!! I'm so gonna die!! Whee!! 10 days wei!! *shoutsoutalongstringofexpletives* Argh!! Sepuluh hari!! *dies*

2009!!

Another year has gone. A whole 366 days has just passed. Time flies huh? Ahh..2008!! Further on in life, it'll only be remembered for one thing : lou poh!! <3

I'm sure most of you would have done reminiscing about '08 and making resolutions or to-do lists and I wouldn't wanna bore you with mine so yeah..I'll skip that part and get on to yesterday :)

New Year's Eve Countdown BBQ!! at my place :) Instead of the usual countdown at gurney, this year we decided to have a bbq instead. Small group of close friends. I mean..why la wanna join the hooligans at countdowns nowadays when can usher in the new year with your closest friends si bo?? It seems as though public countdowns now are just excuses for unruly ppl to create a ruckus and cause havoc. And besides, what more can you ask for laa when you're with your loved ones and closest friends counting down 10!! 9!!.......3!! 2!! 1!! I'll let the pics tell you more la k.......
